The Basic Design (Pecking Head Only)
Figure 1 shows the basic chicken body and swinging head. The head piece fits into a slot cut into the body piece. Holes in both pieces are hinged by a small nail. The chicken is supported by a wooden dowel.
Figure 2 shows where to attach the "head string" which pulls the head upward.
You will notice the head can swing upward only so far. The head is stopped by the upper cut of the slot in the chicken body. You can use this fact to adjust how high your chickens heads rise; see Figure 3.
